Work To Live Vs. Live To Work
With the city motto being “poor but sexy,” Berlin is New York City in the '70s and Paris in the '20s. The pace of life is slower in Berlin, as Berliners have blurred the lines between work and play, so it's more “work to live,” whereas NYC is more “live to work.” One sixth of Berlin is unemployed in comparison to NYC’s 8.5%. 40 percent of Berlin are young people under the age of 30, which explains why its a young person’s utopia. Culturally speaking, one third of New Yorkers were not born in the U.S, just as one third of Berlin’s population is non German. However, you definitely see more “No more tourists!” graffiti in Berlin than in New York.
Winner: Tie. New Yorkers for being better at hustling, but Berliners for not being workaholics and probably living longer.
