After Dark In The City That Never Sleeps

After Dark In The City That Never Sleeps
With its numerous converted powerplant/warehouse/church nightclubs, Berlin may beat NYC in the realm of the “underground” but NYC surely takes the cake above ground, or should I say, up high in the sky. My cream of the crop in the Big Apple? For best rooftop views and a reality check “Must-be-in-NYC” feeling: Top of the Standard (Boom Boom Room or Le Bain), 230 Fifth, or Ink48. For Happy Hour: Goldbar or Rosaritos Fish Shack. For Cocktails: The Wayland or Pouring Ribbons. For beer: Radegast Hall & Biergarten or Blind Tiger. For wine: City Winery. For group parties: Brooklyn Bowl. For Dives: Barcade, Union Pool, Lit Lounge or the Levee. For clubbing in class to hip hop and house: Ace Hotel or 1OAK. For old world elegance: The Jane Hotel. Winner: Tie. As I said, you can club the schnitzel out of Berlin, so it may beat NYC below ground level, but NYC surely takes dazzling skyline and clubbing in class to the next stratosphere.
