Tavi Gevinson - Age 16
Tavi Gevinson made being a teenage girl cool again. At age 13, Tavi was recognized by the blogging community for her fashion blog,
The Style Rookie. At a time when the internet was just beginning to show the beginning signs of what it is now (the dark ages of 2008), Tavi Gevinson offered insight into a teenagers closet that was a mystery to most before. Photos of Tavi in thrift store relics and unique finds gave a lot of her readers a optimism to develop chic style on a small budget. At 15, Tavi co-founded Rookie Mag, an online forum for teenage girls that gets updated three times a day, after school, at dinner, and before bed, with unique content that covers literature, feminist thought, and advice on how to survive the sweet teens.
Now, Tavi Gevinson is getting involved in bigger projects. She is doing motivational speaking on feminism and fashion (and most recently, joined Iris Apfel at the Metropolitan Museum of Art), plays in a band, and has become a regular face at fashion week.
"I'm really inspired by nostalgia and all of the things you really love when you're a teenager...LA is my favorite place in the world. It satisfies all and most of my aesthetic interests. Because there is a side of it that is like canyons and Joni Mitchell, then there is also the really tacky side that I just love." Tavi Gevinson said in an interview with StylelikeU.
