Tory Burch began her line, Tory Burch, out of her Upper East Side apartment. Launching her fashion line in 2004 she received instant success and even got an endorsement for her line from
Oprah Winfrey. Described as "preppy-boho," her line has continued to thrive. Her accomplishements have earned her several awards including Rising Star Award for Best New Retail Concept in 2005, and Accessories Designer of the Year in 2008, for which she beat
Marc Jacobs and
Michael Kors. She founded the Tory Burch Foundation, which provides economic opportunities to women and their families, additionally she is actively involved in several other charities as well.
