Shoes, Shoes, Shoes, a shoe store in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia is giving customers a lot of incentive to buy a pair of shoes: buy a pair of shoes, get a free man. Seriously. Shoes, Shoes, Shoes has paired up with the Malaysian dating service LunchActually to match shoppers with a man-- free with the purchase of a pair of shoes!
Huffington Post explained how it works:
"The men sign up on the dating site Lunch Actually and pick out 20 shoes that they would like to see a potential date wear. The guys then pledge to pay for anywhere from 10 to 100 percent of the cost of the shoe. (A good indicator of their desperation?) When a woman buys a pair of shoes at the Kuala Lumpur store, she can then go online and check out her potential shoe-gar daddies' profiles. After one date, a woman can be reimbursed by her match."
The store's Facebook page calls the campaign the "ultimate in retail therapy" and encourages potential shoppers to channel their inner Carrie Bradshaw:
"Why sit and wait for Mr. Right to drop from the sky. Go do what you like most first—shop for shoes and live out your Sex and the City dreams (think Carrie!) and leave it to the professionals to find you your Mr. Big with a possible discount of 100% to boot."
Shoes, Shoes, Shoes has even gone so far as to put live male models in their store windows-- just to make it clear that you get an actual date with the purchase of a pair of shoes.
HuffPost also points out that this might be considered a form of prostitution, but the store's Facebook page is full with the words of enough well-wishers (one commenter wrote "this is just brilliant!" another, "this is awesome!") to suggest that these shoe-loving Malaysians don't care.
