Although the summer is the season to be carefree, your hair shouldn't be ignored. Exposed to chlorine, salt water and the sun, the last thing your mane needs is to be damaged further with blow-dryers or curlers which is why effortless (looking) beach hair is the answer. We've rounded up the best products to help you do just that.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. An MVP in the beach-hair world, Surf Spray won't let you down. It not only gives you the beachy waves, which is half the battle, but also the rough texture you need to complete the look. Plus, it smells great. Buy Here [via Allure]

Fekkai 'Beachcomber' Leave-In Conditioner. Not only with this create waves, but it will also keep them soft and, thanks to its UV shield, it helps protect your hair color (if you're coloring it). Buy Here. [via Nordstrom]

C.O. Bigelow Kusco Murphy Beach Hair. Recommended for all hair types, this product comes in a jar, as opposed to the more common spray form. Some of the ingredients include ground bamboo and  algae extract but don't let that scare you- its the same product used for the cover girls of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Instead of applying and letting it air dry however, apply from the tips to the root, and shape until you get the look you desire. Buy Here. [via]

Bumble and Bumble Texture Hair (un)Dressing Creme. If the idea of sea salt or algae in your hair freaks you out, fear not- this cream "gives hair that elusive, undone-yet-done quality, with a hint of grit, hold and a tousled, shine-free finish". Make sure hair is damp and then let your fingers work the magic! Buy Here. [via]

DIY Surf Hair! If new products just simply aren't in your budget, you can do it the old-fashioned way. Nylon Magazine tells you how:dunk hair in salt water (ocean or otherwise), then finger-comb conditioner through while it's still wet, + air dry.
