Slide #2

Beer historians (and I'm glad we live in a world where those exist) disagree about whether or not PBR actually won the "Blue Ribbon" award at the 1893 World's Fair: Columbian Exhibition that supposedly gave it the famous name. Some claim that there were no blue ribbons given out at the Fair and that the name simply comes from the blue ribbons that were tied around the neck of the bottle as part of the late 1800's packaging. But the more pertinent question is what the general state of beer was at the time that would encourage anyone to call PBR The Best Beer In The World. Don't get me wrong, I love PBR for what it is, but I also know that they've been brewing pale ales and Belgian tripels for 500+ years. I'm not even sure PBR is the best tasting beer that you can buy in increments of 30, let alone at all.
