Highlight: Grandmas!
Both Katy Perry and Jordin Sparks brought their Grandmothers to the Billboard Awards, and I'm a fan of that move. Leaving aside for a second the probability that my own grandmother would likely be more interested in almost anything other than the Billboard Music Awards, I still think it's a sweet gesture and far more productive than bringing your agent or boyfriend or Bai Ling or something. I also like that Katy Perry shouted out her grandma on stage, mentioning that they were planning on ripping some shots after the show. My grandma has been known to get down with a nice glass of bourbon from time to time, and I agree: badass grandmas are the best.
