Bey wasn't subtle - this epic performance was a celebration of blackness. From a rendition of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" (known as the Black National Anthem) to the overall HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) theme (including a marching band, drumline, and her own fraternity), the set showcased black talent, culture, and history in a way that went beyond Coachella.
