::SATURDAY—SKIP::
RadioheadI cannot believe I haven't read a single scathing review about this show which I've been on a rant about since Saturday night. I've waited years to see Radiohead play live and was so, so excited for this one which turned out to be the biggest disappointment of the weekend. I've been a huge Radiohead fan since I was like 13 and understand that they get off on being unconventional and unpredictable. But making a crowd of somewhere in the range of 50,000 people around midnight in the freezing cold sit through an hour of new, experimental material we don't know until we're finally thrown a bone when they decide to play "Karma Police" really softly is such a consciously dick move. So, unless you're down to listen to Thom Yorke whine and moan and bleat like sheep in heat for an hour before insulting you saying you make him want to take a cold shower because you "just want something" from him as he reluctantly plays "Karma Police" after he's ten songs into his set, do not go see this show. I've read nothing but rave reviews about how this show was "electric" and a life-changing, religious experience but I'm not even kidding when I say I think it ruined Radiohead for me. I left early and angry. I'd had enough and was too cold and too pissed to listen to any more. Then I look at the set list the next day to see what I missed; lo and behold THEY DIDN'T EVEN PLAY GOD DAMN "CREEP"-- ARE YOU SHITTING ME????? NO REALLY, THOM YORKE, ARE YOU THAT BIG OF A WITHHOLDING DICK THAT YOU CANNOT BE BOTHERED TO PLAY YOUR BIGGEST HIT OF ALL TIME SOMEWHERE IN A TWO-HOUR SPAN FOR A CROWD YOU KNOW WANTS IT VERY BADLY? Not cool, man. Having said that, I encourage you to go see, any other shows happening before, during and after that Radiohead time-slot. [Radiohead photo via]
