If you think Hello Kitty is just for little kids, it may have been a while since you've been shopping. The aggressively cute Japanese character, which by some reports is the second most recognizable cartoon in the world (behind, obviously, a certain Jonas Brother-abusing mouse), is so firmly embedded in global consumer consciousness that her image appears on everything from jewelry made by Kimora to, um, "personal massagers." So it's really only natural that Sanrio-inspired street art would get its moment in the sun, courtesy of the gallery/book launch party for "Hello Kitty Hello Art!" that went down on Saturday at Known Gallery. Did we mention that The Ders was there?
