The Allah-las
Additionally, artist Tiffany Trenda performed her piece "Body Code" in a full body suit to keep the party and the art off-the-wall. An interactive piece, "Body Code" encourages viewers to scan parts of Trenda's body with their smartphones as she moves around them. To keep people moving themselves, L.A. garage rock band The Allah-las played a lively set of jangly psychedelic rock tunes, and the long-haired blondes couldn't help but dance. Since the gala also benefited the Inner-City Arts foundation, we'd say it was the perfect kind of L.A. art show: one that not only celebrates Los Angeles and its history, but gives to its future. If Thursday night's kickoff is an indication, photo l.a. 2013 will prove another year of inspiring discussion and exciting new work.
