The people of Southern California united this past weekend not only to beautify the pavement of Pasadena, but also to bring home the Guiness World Record for Largest Display of Chalk Pavement Art. Over 500 artists took their sidewalk chalk skills to the streets of Paseo Colorado designing over 170 colorful murals.
Capturing movie scenes, referencing history, and creating elaborate illustrations, artists spent 2 days bringing their visions to life. Serving a dual purpose, the Chalk Festival provided visual stimulation and also benefited the community arts program of the Lights Bringer Project. Even browsing through the photos leaves one in awe from the raw talent that emerged from only forty-eight hours of labor.
Artists certainly put the days of etching hopscotch courses to shame. This amazing feat leaves us with only one question, how much rain will it take to wash away this mess?
