The big, red food truck is back again today (and every Tuesday through November) with gourmet lunches to help ease you into the grind after a wonderful long weekend. Josef Centeno of Lazy Ox Canteen gives an encore performance of last week's hit with his famous "Baco", a flatbread-pork belly/beef carnitas taco hybrid, plus some side goodies to complement the headliner. For $10, this fine lunch is a steal, but if that hasn't sold you, maybe the truck's worthy cause might -- all proceeds will go to St. Vincent's Meals on Wheels program, making your gourmet lunchtime indulgence a charitable act.
The meal also comes with a cookie by Miss Lilly's, the sweet treat purveyor whose proceeds help seniors provide food for their pets. So basically, Cart for a Cause offers you a unique chance to give to two causes just by scoring a delicious boxed lunch for a more than reasonable price. The truck will be parked at 5900 Wilshire Blvd. on the Miracle Mile across the street from LACMA, from 12-2pm. There are only 150 meals and they go fast, so be sure to get there on the early side to beat the crowd if you want in on the gourmet action.
