5. Football
Even if football isn't your thing, make an exception. There are always what I'm told are tremendous games around this time of year. I don't think anything gives my dad and uncle more pleasure than camping out in front of the TV for hours at a time to watch the games. They don't get up from that couch unless it's to jump up and scream profanities at the screen or re-up on nom noms. Get on that passion train and see what all the fuss is about. I've always found football boring and could never follow what was happening because of the breaks in between plays, but ever since I got into "Friday Night Lights" I've found it much more tolerable and almost understand what the hell is going on. Again, these games are another day-killer that don't require much conversing, especially if you're watching them in surround-sound like my family.
