To think this land could have been developed... phew. Thank goodness for Hef. We locals often take these landmarks for granted and don't actually go to the very places our hometown is famous for. Some of us have lived here for years and never done the Hollywood Sign hike.
Summer is fast approaching and is the best time to get reacquainted with this town. Now that the days are longer and the sun will still be up in the sky by the time you finish work (hopefully), go here. Go hiking. The trek up isn't bad and any struggle you have will be totally worth it once you get to the top. When you take the trail up, stand in this spot and look down at the city. You might be surprised at how much of a stranger you feel like to L.A., the place you think you know like the back of your hand. It's too sprawling, your eye can't meet every corner. How can anybody have every square block down? Is it even possible? Don't worry about it, you have plenty of time to explore the rest you don't know. Watch the sun set down below the mountains into the coast. And then hit Malibu in the morning.
