You're also a prolific filmmaker and the world of the Sporting Guide seems very cinematic. Did you apply any film making techniques in the writing of the book?
I wrote the book longhand initially in composition notebooks filled with detailed drawings, photographs, laser copies and notes on everything from interiors to costumes to makeup for “my girls”, to the characters’ psycho analysis. I can’t help but take a 360 approach to telling any story. As a director and writer, it is impossible for me not to see, smell and taste the whole world I am imagining. And I always planned to adopt Sporting Guide – hopefully for television!
