VIDEO: Lil Wayne Covers Tupac In "Unplugged" Special, Makes MTV2 Briefly Relevant

[Photo via] Lil Wayne kept himself busy last night. While most musicians would have probably been satisfied with taking the greatest picture of all time with newly crowned NBA MVP Dirk Nowitzki, as seen here on the left, Weezy was already in the middle of a big night, as his MTV Unplugged special debuted, making Wayne the first hiphop artist to appear on the show since Jay-Z did it ten years ago. And as far as MTV specials go, he didn't disappoint.

Now, I'm guessing Wayne himself, a huge sports fan who has appeared on several ESPN talking-head shows and knows what he's talking about at least as much as human wastebag Skip Bayless, was probably watching his new best friend Dirk win the NBA title and missed his own special.

And Wayne, since we know you're is a big fan of, um, pharmaceuticals, you may not remember recording it. If that's the case, we recommend that you check out the part where you cover 2Pac's "Hail Mary":

As Vulture noted, he really makes it sound like a Lil Wayne track, which is a roundabout way of saying we wouldn't mind hearing more famous rappers cover each other's songs. Also of note, Weezy, was your premiere of the first new song from your upcoming Carter IV album, which you can find at 31 minutes into the full-length MTV special.

Tha Carter IV drops August 29th.
