In 2017, Harvey Weinstein was rightfully blacklisted from the Academy as well as the ceremony following the producer's explosive sexual assault allegations. The organization called his actions "repugnant, abhorrent, and antithetical to the high standards of the academy and the creative community it represents."
Though he still got to keep his past awards, the convicted offender prompted the Academy to create a new code of conduct.
