Local singer-songwriter Marisa Guterman has been lighting up Los Angeles with her original music at such live music venues as Hotel Cafe, the Viper Room, The Mint and Cinespace to name a few, and last night took over L.A. institution House of Blues' Foundation Parish for a live performance.

Described as having the soul of Adele, sincerity of Sara Bareilles and quirkiness of Regina Spektor, Guterman is a sonic skills and distinction make her star on the rise. Backed by her band, the actress/musician captivated the crowd that gathered in the House of Blues' oriental rug-covered loft for an intimate performance last night that felt way more casual east side lounge than high-voltage Sunset Strip concert.  Guterman played favorite original tunes like "Pumpkin Pie" and "Used To You" for her laidback audience who soaked up her soulful melodies. If her track record is any indication, Guterman is well on her way to becoming big on the national music scene so keep your eye on this budding songstress.
