"Whitney Houston OG" Pulled From Dispensary Shelves
The fellows in charge of naming new strains of medicinal marijuana have never really been known for their tact. How else would you explain
naming a particularly potent strain of Kush after a 3-month old? Still, at least you could argue that "Blue Ivy" is meant to be a compliment, a commemoration of the joyous occasion of childbirth. How, then, to explain "
Whitney Houston OG?"
Yes, some
drug dealer caregiver at 45 Cap Elite Herbal Center in South Central posted an ad for the strain, which retails at $180 for half an onion, before quickly pulling it down after the press caught wind and started calling and reporting on it. According to a lawyer contacted by the Huffington Post, this violates Whitney (and her estate)'s "right of publicity," which protects the name and likeness of a celebrity against those trying to cash in without permission. Obviously, there's an additional degree of bad taste involved as well given Whitney's history with drug abuse. Which isn't to say that the world needs "Dick Clark OG" either. Too soon?
