The 2nd Annual Hudson Block party put on by local bar and restaurant The Hudson, co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood & Chamber of Commerce, along with Table Manners, The Churchill and Black Banditz spanned 12 hours, beginning at 11am and lasting until 11pm, and was held at The Hudson on the northeast corner of Crescent Heights and Santa Monica Blvd, its parking lot, Memorial Park across the street, the Bank of America Parking lot, and the street in front which was closed off to traffic. Here's a breakdown of the neighbors' complaints over the day-long music fest event:
- Taking over an already congested area too small to accommodate the crowd (estimated at about 8,000).
- Lack of timely prior notice.
- No parking. I'm sorry, I need to just interject here: um, but there never is??? I was at The Hudson last week and witnessed someone getting a BUI in front and the cops strapped his bicycle to their cruiser, I assume to impound it, and I think it was because of his wonk parking job in a red zone. The "parking" situation over there is so far beyond hope, let's complain productively about stuff that might actually change in our lifetime.
- Loudness. They be bringin' the NOISE! All day. Aaaallllll day.
- Traffic. What? Is this a joke? I sit in bumper to bumper over there on the daily. It takes me 30 minutes to get to that Whole Foods from La Cienega.
