One of the hottest tickets during Art Basel Miami Beach wasn't that of a gallery or luxury champagne company. It was Playboy's Thursday night dinner at Soho Beach House, featuring an intimate crowd of just 28 guests, hosted by living-legend feminist artist Marilyn Minter and Pulitzer Prize-winning art critic Jerry Saltz. Artists Shepard Fairey, Tali Lennox, Shantell Martin, and Carlos Vega were in attendance, along with music darlings Tove Lo and Mia Moretti. Jordan Emanuel (the 2019 Playmate of the Year) was also there, enjoying conversation with Shepard Fairey and his wife Amanda across the vibrantly arranged dinner table.

Seated adjacently to Marilyn Minter's husband, Bill, was mega art dealer Jack Shainman (partner of Carlos Vega), who has made his career championing artists who have become some of today's most important creative voices: Hank Willis Thomas, Toyin Ojih Odutola, and Nick Cave - to name just a few. The dinner comes at a pivotal point in Playboy’s approach to arts and culture coverage, helmed by its arts editor Elizabeth Suman.

The glittering affair kicked off with a living room-style conversation, introduced by Suman, where guests gathered around to discuss art censorship and sexuality with Minter and Saltz. With a high level of audience participation - Art Basel exhibitors, renowned artists, and other luminaries from the creative industries were all there - the evening yielded a memorable experience like no other.
