David and Leila Centner
Meet David and Leila Centner, the duo at the, uh, center of all the controversy. Hailed as "Miami's Most Philanthropic Power Couple," the Centners have a reputation for digging into their very deep pockets for cultural and educational causes close to their hearts. And for good ol' Donald Trump, of course.
Tech executive David was born and raised in Miami, where the Centners returned after living in New York, while Leila worked in business and finance. Together they oversaw their Highway Toll Administration company which made them a major fortune when it was acquired in a global buyout for an undisclosed, but clearly hefty, amount.
Following their windfall, they set out to dedicate 75% of their annual income to philanthropy and, in addition to their school, support local and national nonprofits like JAFCO, Lotus House Women’s Shelter, and the Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts. There's no denying they're a generous pair.
