Laila Gohar Takes The Cake(s) At Valentino's Decadent Milan Bash

What better way to celebrate the end of Salone del Mobile, the annual furniture and design fair which sees all the world's aesthetes overtake Milan (and overtake Instagram with their photos of Milan...), than a food-filled, over-the-top, no-expense-spared bash inside a historic palazzo?

Last Thursday evening, Martina Mondadori and Valentino hosted Cabana’s 10th anniversary party at Società del Giardino. Ever arbiters of good taste, the pair commissioned Laila Gohar to creative direct the night's food experience.

A towering pyramid of silver caprese-filled coupes - mozzarella balls and cherry tomatoes elegantly stuck with silver sticks...

A forest-inspired tablescape with draped boughs of leaves and grapes hung above the set of sprawling dinner tables...

A dramatic cutting ceremony of six grand cakes (one Mont Blanc, two Principessas iced in baby blue and bubblegum pink, one Gianduia, one Rosa, and one a Pan di Spagna).

Each gâteau individually decorated sugary mound baked by the master pâtissiers at Sant Ambroeus and displayed whimsically atop topiary pedestals...

Guests including designers Amanda Brooks and Coco Brandolini, and editors Amy Astley and Emanuele Farneti donned their best 'Glam Tie' ensembles for the occasion, feasting and dancing the night away.
