Joe Roberts, World Peace Event Horizon
Combining kitsch with the cerebral, Joe Roberts takes images that have gone through the rigors of pop culture and throws them into messy, spontaneous works influenced by disorder, comic books, and his experiences with hallucinogenic drugs. The results are evocative without being cliche, as the unpolished doodles of Ninja Turtles taking acid or Mickey Mouse in a rainbow clock seem to have come from some cool kid's locker in a decade that hasn't occurred yet.
