Alex Hubbard, Magical Ramón and The Five Bar Blues
Haven't we all wished, at some especially difficult point in our lives, to have our own private and portable little bar? Somewhere we could go as a haven to forget about the world and enjoy a cocktail or five? Well, even if we actually
haven't, artist Alex Hubbard certainly put the idea in our heads in his latest exhibition at Maccarone. In addition to seven heat-warped "bent paintings," the show features these single-seat bar installations, complete with full bottles and a working beer tap. Confronted with themselves in a mirror, the viewer (drinker) experiences Hubbard's expression of loneliness, boxed in an interactive sculpture.
When: Through June 1
Where:
Maccarone, 630 Greenwich Street
