Doug Argue, Work On Paper
From a distance, Doug Argue's gouache and watercolor works just look like stunning rainbows of splashed abstractions. As one gets closer, however, he realizes the colorful images are not just random geometric shapes, but letters—words dislocated, dissected, and suspended in elegant motion. Like a high-art word finder, the paintings serve each viewer differently as it's up to us to decide what we see.
