Outside the scheming promise of a New York city spring, inside the splendor of an Austrian country summer. Neue Galerie's newest exhibition doubles down on the museum's love for Gustav Klimt, unveiling a must-see kaleidoscope of the artist's prized landscapes.
Painted over the course of many sunny holidays at Lake Attersee, Klimt's years-long series is a fascinating complement to his more widely known gilded portraits, commissioned by Vienna's society doyennes, like the iconic Portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer I.
The mansion's gallery walls are fresh with works featuring a pastoral palette of sun dappled green scenes and washed blue waterfronts, alongside rare photographs, fashion pieces, and decorative arts of the time.
