Ryan McGinness is a staple of the Downtown art scene, and has created an influential aesthetic that pervades throughout New York culture. His work stems from sketches he makes, which are transformed into digital prints and paintings, featuring intricate layers of shapes and iconography in vivid colors.
His brand of pop art has earned him comparisons to Warhol, and is featured as part of
MoMA's permanent collection. Nightlife regulars will recognize his black-light paintings in the entrance to
Le Bain at the Standard hotel.
