7. How do you think social media has changed everyone’s view on plastic surgery?

Social media has led to the anti-sensationalism of plastic surgery. So many patients are excited about their surgeries and wish to display their results on social media. Furthermore social media has introduced to the world a potpourri of filters which alter our image. I think it is rare that anyone posts a picture of themselves that has not been changed. This alters our understanding of what is real and what our expectations should be. Therefore more people are interested in plastic surgery to look more similar to their better/altered self. The ubiquitous nature of social media means that photos from your worst angle may be posted everywhere! No longer can you control what people say and who sees it, driving patients to change those aspects of themselves which they are most sensitive about.
