The Under Eyes & Vampire Facials

In Dr. Fallek’s words, “plastic surgery is moving toward regenerative processes with growth factors and things we can use to stimulate our own body. We do more regenerative medicine, something not many people are doing.”

This is where the vampire facial, or Platelet Rich Plasma, comes in. “Patients use PRP,” Dr. Fallek continues. “We draw the blood and spin it down and it separates the blood (the hemoglobin) and the plasma. The plasma has the growth factors in there, so you inject it into the area. The plasma has this high concentration of platelets and growth factors, so we are stimulating the collagen with it. It’s a thin liquid, unlike a filler which is a gel consistency. If you came to me with dark under-eye circles and it was not a fat or filler issue, I would suggest PRP.”

There seems to be a demand to create more natural ways of doing what a filler can do – it’s important to choose a doctor who’s ahead of the curve and well educated on these matters. If you don’t have an issue yet with your under-eyes, please take care of them with an eye serum or cream (or both) in the morning and at night. You’ll thank us on your 40th birthday.
