Al di Là
When it comes to Brooklyn restaurants trying to match the competition across the river, one of the few honest claims it can make for having something better than Manhattan is Al di Là. What once was a quaint, upscale neighborhood, Italian joint has turned into a place that is worth the travel. Al di Là can stand proud on its braised rabbit dish alone. Served with a creamy polenta, it is the exact northern Italian flavor Al di Là strives to create, and the type of dish that makes Park Slope's celebrity residents frequent the dining room. If you preempt the rabbit with the malfatti, a Swiss-chard with ricotta gnocchi and brown butter, you just hit back-to-back home runs. And for a first course, it's a good idea to try the Trippa alla Toscana, tripe stewed in white wine.
