Brooklyn Central
Brooklyn Central is what your neighborhood pizza place is supposed to be: seasonal but innovative, a mixture of old and new worlds, allowing the addition of toppings but not the substitution. The old world menu, made with buffalo mozzarella from the Campania region of Italy, stays true to the old country, heavy on basil with anchovy and prosciutto options. The new world pizzas, using mozzarella from Brooklyn, have pepperoni or pickled chilies, even duck. Named after a 1900s train line that ran along Fifth Avenue, the brick oven is tiled like a subway stop wall, giving Brooklyn Central the kind of old and new world mixture it shoots for.
