If we can name three things we are ultimately and irrevocably obsessed with, it would be (in this order) Beyoncé, Game of Thrones, and fashion. Oh to what angel in heaven, or God of Light, or the Seven, do we owe the immense pleasure of having them all intertwine at last night's CFDA Awards? Sure it was hosted by our secret nerd crush Joel McHale, and sure there was a stellar performance by Jennifer Hudson, but when it came down to it, the ceremony was all about Bey - and she shone in the spotlight like the Khaleesi that she is.
Arriving with both Jay and Blue Ivy by her side, she let her haters sip lemonade indeed as she took to the stage to accept her Fashion Icon Award. In a sequin Givenchy power suit, she thanked her mother for designing for Destiny's Child in the early days, and called all designers "fairy godmothers." Lawd knows they are. She continued, "When I wore these clothes on stage, I felt like Khaleesi. I had an extra suit of armor. It was so much deeper than any brand name."
Say it with us: YASSSSS!
Now let this last bit of Bey-sdom help you get through today:
Soul has no color. No shape, no form. Just like all your work it goes so far beyond what the eyes can see. You have the power to change perception, to inspire and empower, to show people how to embrace their complications and see the flaws and the true beauty that’s inside all of us.
