RIP To Martha Stewart's Prized Peacocks...

by Stephanie Maida · July 25, 2022

'Twas a sad day for Martha Stewart this weekend after it was discovered that six of her prized peacocks were "devoured" by wild coyotes on her farm in Bedford, New York.

    Quelle horreur!

Martha broke the news to her followers on Instagram with her usual candor, sharing a throwback video of her beloved "Blue Boy," accompanied by the caption, "RIP beautiful Blue Boy. The coyotes came in broad daylight and devoured him and five others including the magnificent White Boy[...] any solutions for getting rid of six large and aggressive coyotes who have expensive tastes when it comes to poultry??"

She added that she wasn't sure how the video acquired the Marvin Gaye musical backing, but that's a mystery for another day.

Today's mystery, however, is WTF is going on at that farm?!

While the homemaking hostess with the mostest is no doubt the ultimate animal lover, housing "hundreds and hundreds of pets" including chickens, horses, and the flock of peafowl on her famous 153-acre property, this isn't the first time a pet of hers has met a violent end.

Back in April, Martha revealed that one of her cats, a Calico Persian named Princess Peony, was killed by her four dogs, who "mistook her for an interloper and killed her defenseless little self." Yikes!

Tragic as the loss of Blue Boy and the others is, Martha does still have 15 "glorious" peacocks to look after (she started with 21, a number she was adamant about correcting in a New York Post article about them).

"I visit these beautiful birds every day," she wrote in a 2020 blog post. "I love calling out to them and waiting for their energetic responses... They do not smell. They are so clean! Their voices are loud but such fun to hear. They are so friendly."

Chow Chows, Coyotes, oh my! Why can't all the animals just get along?!
