Like the Warwick, the Hotel Chelsea is another historic piece of New York real estate. Many rockers checked in for years at a time. It is infamous for punk rock's most tragic couple Sid and Nancy. Sex Pistols' bassist Sid Vicious was arrested on suspicion of murder, after his girlfriend and manager Nancy Spungen was found dead due to a stab wound in the hotel on October 11, 1978. A few months later, while on bail, the 21-year-old rockstar Sid Vicious died of a heroin overdose.
