Lou Reed

The legendary rock musician Lou Reed, front man of The Velvet Underground, used to crash at his friend and band mate John Cale's place all the time. The two experimented with drugs, sex, and rock 'n' roll at the downtown apartment. After Cale moved out in mid '60s, Reed bought the Lower East Side apartment. The native New Yorker later moved a little further north to East 10th Street near 1st Avenue.
