The rock visionary John Lennon had a number of New York City addresses, but none is more famous (or infamous) than The Dakota, located at West 72nd near Central Park. On December 8, 1980, John Lennon and Yoko Ono left their apartment after five years of living in seclusion to promote their new album. Upon returning to his residence after a walk in Central Park, Lennon was shot, and he died on the way to the hospital.
