UC Berkeley
When girls live together, they have to live in near utopian standards in order to get along. Often a trigger for contention? Conflicting cleanliness habits. One UC Berkeley sorority's solution? A hazing ritual called "the human mop." A sorority sister named Britteny Sterling came forward and said that in order to be admitted into the sorority, she along with the rest of the pledges were forced to clean up spills and garbage left behind by their sisters using just their hands and pockets. Britteny also maintained that the sorority forced all the pledges to stay up all night. Sounds like a typical night at college during finals week, right? Well, the pledges were force to stay standing the entire time and weren't allowed to go to the bathroom. Britteny ended up having to take a leave of absence to cope with the trauma of pledging a sorority. She sued the school and the sorority ended up getting shut down for good.
