In your book, you speak to men accused of assault. As an objective journalist, was this ever difficult for you?

All my encounters with students resonated deeply with me. No matter where they were on the campus sex spectrum – accusers, accused, frat bros, sorority girls, activists, “woke” dudes – they were often deeply concerned and/or confused about this issue. I did meet with men accused of assault, some of whom have effectively been shut out of higher education, and who live day to day with trauma they don’t know how to address.

It’s clear from my research that some boys are being accused of sexual assault when they shouldn’t be. Pretending this doesn’t happen isn’t helping anybody. We need to figure out why it’s happening.
