-Barbie thought she would never be a model. She grew up seeing the same type of body type in every magazine and none of them resembled hers.
-At 16, she decided to take a few photos and submit them to American Apparel. At this age, she was comfortable in front of the camera because of her interest in acting. A day later, she was contacted by American Apparel and hired.
-She was one of the first models in American Apparel's movement towards a different standard of beauty. Since then, Barbie's slowly taken over the fashion world. Modeling helped Barbie develop a newfound self-confidence. She's gained a large number of supporters and befriended other plus-size models who defy normal standards of beauty.
-Now, she's a role-model for young girls everywhere and provides them with the inspiration she was never able to find at a young age.
