The 41st annual NYC Gay Pride Week kicked off June 19 and ended yesterday. With more pride than ever, the celebrations were hotter than usual (with the heat) and went deep into the night, including the following events:
-
Pride Rally:Saturday, June 19 at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park- This event kicks off pride week and involves performers and speakers in the community.
Rapture on the River: Saturday, June 26 at Pier 54- This is a dance for the ladies.
Pride March:Sunday, June 27 starts at 5th Ave and 36th Street and ends at Christopher and Greenwich Streets- This is probably one of the most anticipated events of the week. This year's marchers included Lieutenant Dan Choi, Judy Shepherd and Constance McMillen.
Pridefest:Sunday, June 27th at Hudson Street between Abingdon Square and West 14th Street- This is a family street festival including vendors and community activities.
The Dance on the Pier: Sunday, June 27th at Pier 54- This is a celebration of gays being able to dance openly with one another now. Fireworks and music by DJ Steven Oliveri and Freemasons ended the week.
