How much do you think art intertwines in nightlife, then and now?
SB: Well I think they go hand in hand. Artists were always engaged in nightlife, and living out through that life, and it was natural. Area was, I guess, the first one that formally consummated the marriage, but it happened before that.
EG: All forms of artistic expression existed in nightlife. It wasn't just fine art, it was music, it was art, it was fashion, it was performance art, so you would get a mixture of all those people, all together, all feeding off of each other.
