Chances are, right now just about everyone you know (or don't know but follow so closely on Instagram, there's basically no difference) is either on a beach in the Caribbean or the slopes of Colorado. Maybe like me, you don't ski. So not being a part of the latter really isn't that big of a loss. Until of course you factor in the excuse to don a sporty chic après-ski look. Not going to lie, that hurts.
Still, I can accept being grounded in New York whilst people seem to have the time of their lives flinging themselves off cold mountains. But missing a fun social event? That's really where things start to get offensive.
This past Saturday, The Aspen Art Museum (AAM) held its annual après-style
winter benefit gala event, The Next 2019. Artsy locals and fun seeking holiday-ers joined for a chic evening silently bidding on luxurious auction items, taking in contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirror Room Where the Lights in My Heart Go (2016), and dancing to tunes played by our favorite DJ and traveling It Man, Timo Weiland.
Hosted for the second consecutive year by AAM Cochairs Constanza Garza and Alexander Mason Hankin, guests enjoyed the finer things, such as a ROXOR Artisan Gin’s ice bar, champagne, caviar, and appetizers in the AAM’s Roof Deck Sculpture Garden, which dramatically sits in the shadow of the Aspen Mountain's snow-capped peaks.
In true New York fashion, the fun continued post with an exclusive after-party co-hosted by Cultured Magazine at fellow co-sponsor’s retro-style Aspen venue, The Snow Lodge.
