The flavors of fall, the fizz of sparkling wine, and the fantastic, immersive world of contemporary art came together last week when Pioneer Works and Chandon closed out this year's Supper Club series with a magical autumn dinner. 'Twas a feast for the eyes... and the stomach.
The special culinary event welcomed foodies, creatives, and wine connoisseurs alike to Pioneer Works, the beloved Brooklyn art hub, for an experiential meal led by Eric See, the celebrated chef and owner of James Beard finalist Ursula Brooklyn, paired with a sparkling wine tasting curated by Pauline Lhote, the Director of Winemaking at Chandon. (See's grandmother and Ursula's namesake was also in attendance!)
The dramatic brick-walled space was transformed with warm flower arrangements by FDK Florals, an elegant candlelit tablescape, atmospheric tunes, and site-specific work by Charles Atlas, which provided an ever-changing digital backdrop throughout the evening.
Guests mingled at the marigold-draped Chandon bar for cocktail hour, sipping a sneak preview of the different sparkling pours before finding their places at the table, marked by a custom print (which doubled as the night's menu) created by artist Nani Chacon.
Paying homage to his hometown of Albuquerque, Chef See served a seasonal meal inspired by the New Mexican harvest, putting a spotlight on the Three Sisters crops - beans, corn and squash - along with the iconic New Mexican chile pepper. A hearty feast featuring green chile corn chowder, red chile roasted squash tamal, pepitas and sweet potato puree, duck carnitas, refried pinto beans, and freshly made Navajo-wheat tortillas commenced. Guests enjoyed the perfect sparkling wine pairing, from the dry Chandon Brut to the sweeter Chandon Rosé, to complement each course.
For dessert? A heavenly apple tarte tartin drenched in cedarberry caramel with pine nut sorbet, paired with the refreshing Chandon Garden Spritz Tea - a winery exclusive.
Between the lively dinner conversation, meaningful heritage cuisine, vibrant artwork, and standout sips, this season's Supper Club finale certainly earned all its Chandon toasts - and then some.
