Last night, Performa, directed by RoseLee Goldberg, celebrated its 10th anniversary with a Renaissance-themed fall fête hosted by W Magazine's Editor-in-Chief Stefano Tonchi. The evening featured Renaissance-inspired attire with a special food performance by Jennifer Rubell entitled "FECUNDITAS," which included a brigade of men in backless chaps. The performance featured an appetizer show, "Death of the Rubber Chicken," and the dessert portion of the evening, "Sweet Destruction," where guests used hammers to smash open the banquet tables stocked with Vosges chocolates. Throughout the event, guests sipped on Absolut Elyx cocktails, danced to music by DJs Arp and Devonte Hynes, and enjoyed more performances by Raphaelle Condo and Empress Of. Paradiso brought together artists, art world luminaries, dealers, and influencers from the design, entertainment, fashion, and tech industries to honor 13 Renaissance women in the arts, including: Maria Baibakova, Melva Bucksbaum, Toby Devan Lewis, Wendy Fisher, Shelley Fox Aarons, Maja Hoffman, Joan Jonas, Pamela Joyner, Wangechi Mutu, Shirin Neshat, Yvonne Rainer, Cindy Sherman, and Laurie Simons.
