After last year's disappointing November election, there was a sense of celebration this week at West Village eatery Old Rose, where over two dozen women were gathered for an empowering Dinner For Ladies. WIE Network's Dee Poku hosts the all-female supper club for high level founders and executives, and was joined this time by Lingua Franca's Rachelle Hruska MacPherson. Word had just gotten out about the nation's local election results this time around, and historic wins for progressive policy-makers were found across the board.
The theme of the evening was Using Your Voice, something that the leaders in attendance, including activist Sarah Sophie Flicker, Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani, and Women's March organizer Ginny Suss are powerfully well-versed in. Poku, who also created the women's-only Other Festival, led the discussion and attendees left with Lingua Franca sweatshirts emblazoned with the rallying cry, "Educate Her." Because when it comes to changing history, #HerStory is more important than ever.
