For a certain set of New Yorkers, it's not really springtime until the Frick Collection deems it so. Considering the fact that it's been two years since the last Frick Garden Party, Monday evening's event marked a welcome return of the (social) season.

Held for the first time at the collection's temporary home, Frick Madison, the very Upper East Side affair brought out all of the city's most glamorous art patrons-about-town in their festive floral finery and vibrant best.

The blooming bash was a certified garden of delights, featuring seasonally inspired cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, live music from jazz quartet The Flail, and, of course, decorative flowers galore.

Guests made their arrivals and said their hellos in the museum's sleek lobby before heading downstairs to mingle in the glittering lower lounge and greenhouse garden area. Needless to say, spring was in the air - and in our glasses (thanks to those mezcal palomas and strawberry mules).

Since no Frick fête is complete without the art, attendees were sure to take a turn around the galleries, where iconic masterworks from artists including Degas, Rembrandt, Van Dyck, and Vermeer are on stunning display. Between perusing (and posing with) the paintings, guests were able to take part in a series of special talks courtesy of Frick curators. In our opinion, more cocktail parties should come with a side of art history.
