Whenever art and technology collide, we feel a certain thrill. Apparently, we're not alone. On Sunday, the third annual Pioneer Works Village Fête kicked off in Red Hook, celebrating innovation along with Google. Artists and A-listers came together for the star-studded event, joining host committee Paola Antonelli, Carol Bove, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Kweku Mandela, Shirin Neshat, Usher IV, Grace Raymond, Lauren and Andres Santo Domingo, Liv Tyler, Diane von Furstenberg, and Dustin Yellin for cocktails, performances, and a stunning dinner by Silkstone.
Nestled under the towering Redwood tree installation, guests enjoyed dinner while rising musician Esperanza Spalding took to the stage for an impromptu performance. An after-party quickly followed, complete with an upstairs tiki bar and sprawling backyard (fire pit included). Experimental music by Cibi Matto, Chances with Wolves, and Javelin filled the multistory Brooklyn space, while partygoers took in art by Dustin Yellin, Marina Abramovic, Derrick Adams, and more.
Of course the main draw (pun intended) of the evening were the virtual reality stations featuring Google's new Tilt Brush App, where users could paint, sketch, and sculpt in 3D. The future is here.
